Guess who Loves Democracy
For the first time in his life, Godman Satya Sai Baba walked in to a polling booth in his home town Puttaparthy in Anantapur district to cast his vote. The godman, who has millions of followers and disciples in India and around the world who reverently call him “Bhagavan” cast his vote after Puttaparthy became an Assembly constituency following the delimitation process.
More about Satya Sai baba here.
I think this is funny because of many reasons:
We are electing mostly idiotic, corrupt, criminal politicians to be our leaders, while an ‘avatar’(www.sathyasai.org.in) is in the midst of us. I say Sathya Sai should actually get into politics – no one would dare compete against him, voters would get free colour TVs+whatever congress promised+golden siva lingas if they are not too naughty, and of course loads of sacred ash.
And get this, it won’t be the tax payer money or anybody’s personal fortune, after all Sathya Sai Baba has the ‘power’ to produce golden siva lingas from thin air (with a cloth covering his mouth, hands and wherever a linga could possibly be hidden).
All opponents would be cursed, doomed to death(like the blogger) or shown the guiding light and will have to withdraw their nominations – who can compete against the ‘physical manifestation of the supreme being’ after all?
Anyway, looks like this is the first time the controversial self styled Godman has voted ever (he is 83 years old, or his body is 83 years old as I should say), ‘God’ has finally approved democracy – and that makes me wonder – have things started changing in heaven and hell too? Maybe yamagola* ain’t entirely fictional?

I know! There were so many others like him around my house – sometimes I think all that we learn and reflect upon scientifically can be hidden away if we want to, organized religion is like a cult of sorts…
